This course provides the opportunity for students to receive both high school and college credit.  Students who enter this course must meet the enrollment criteria of Texarkana College and are responsible for payment of tuition.

 

This course is designed for the student who has displayed both exceptional ability and diligence in the study of all mathematical courses.  This course will include limits, continuity, derivatives, differentiation rules and rates of change, implicit differentiation and related rates, applications of derivatives, applications including analytic geometry, straight lines and conic sections, antiderivatives, definite and indefinite integration.  Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, integration by substitution, and numerical integration.

PreCalculus: College Algebra (semester) Grades:  11-12 Credit:½ (HS)/3 (coll)

This course provides the opportunity for students to receive both high school and college credit.  Students who enter this course must meet the enrollment criteria of Texarkana College and are responsible for payment of tuition.  

 

The course will include the study of graphs, functions, and their inverses, polynomial and rational functions, roots of polynomial equations, exponents and logarithmic functions, linear and nonlinear systems of equations and inequalities, determinants, matrices, binomial theorem, sequences and series, and permutations and combinations.  

Course weight: 1.3 Prerequisite:  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 & TSI/EOC

 

 

 

PreCalculus:  College Trig Grades:  11-12 Credit:½ (HS)/3 (coll)

This course provides the opportunity for students to receive both high school and college credit.  Students who enter this course must meet the enrollment criteria of Texarkana College and are responsible for payment of tuition.  

 

This class will cover sets, ordered relations, number intervals, trigonometric functions, radian measure, variations and graphs of the functions, solution of a right triangle, and applications, trigonometric identities, equations, vector applications, and inverse functions, general triangle, and complex numbers.

PreCalculus: Dual Credit Statistics Grades:  11-12 Credit: 1 (HS) / 4 (coll)

This course provides the opportunity for students to receive both high school and college credit.  Students who enter this course must meet the enrollment criteria of Texarkana College and are responsible for payment of tuition. 

 

An introductory course in statistical methods. Topics include collection and display of data, mean, standard deviation and variance, probability including the normal, binomial, and chi-square distributions. Other topics also included are sampling and sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing including nonparametric tests, regression, and analysis of variance. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the required TSI test or MATH 0023 or MATH 0022 with a grade of C or better.

Financial Mathematics Grades:  11-12 Credit: 1

Connecting practical mathematical concepts to personal and business settings, this course offers informative and highly useful lessons that challenge students to gain a deeper understanding of financial math. Relevant, project-based learning activities cover stimulating topics such as personal financial planning, budgeting and wise spending, banking, paying taxes, the importance of insurance, long-term investing, buying a house, consumer loans, economic principles, traveling abroad, starting a business, and analyzing business data. Offered as a two-semester course for high school students, this course encourages mastery of math skill sets, including percentages, proportions, data analysis, linear systems, and exponential functions.
